The past ten days have been an unexpected break from my norm. My routine is completely thrown into chaos. I haven't dared touch my WIP for Pendomus for fear that I'd royally screw something up. There are too many strings and I'm not about to tangle them. LOL!
Then, a few days ago Violeta Nedkova (also known as Lyn Midnight) asked me an interesting question.
Does my muse have a name?
See, she was about to write an epic series of blogs featuring writers and their perceptions of their muse(s). If you haven't already, you need to check it out. Right now. Go here----> http://lynmidnight.blogspot.com/
Oddly enough, she was curious about my muse and I was (quite surprisingly) tapped to submit something in 200 words or less. Being the obnoxious word gal that I am, I of course used 198 out of 200. :D
It was a great experience and just the exercise I needed to get my writing brain thinking again. Truly, it gave me a purpose to feel like I could still be productive. It may have taken me those two full days to do it, but I came around. Hopefully, it's mildly coherent. ;)
At any rate, I wanted to thank her SO MUCH for the opportunity to be a part of her fantastic idea and wonderful blog.
For this week, she was my muse, guiding me gently back into writing. Thank you.
(Plus, I found out she's an Avatar geek like me. YAY!) |

Ooh Ooh! I love Avatar! I thought I was all alone! I'll have to go check out her blog, and I hope your head gets better soon. Those kinds of injuries are no fun. Yours sounds much worse than the one that I had when I was a teenager. Let's just say I've never been quite the same person since.
This is SO weird! I posted about almost the exact same thing today. Well, not the recooping from the concussion part (eek!) but the muse part. There's a traveling blog question whirling around about how you would personify your muse. I loved your take on this, that sometimes our writer friends are our muses. Very nice!
I unwittingly participated in this exercise last week when I spoke about my muse always trying to lead me down the darkest alleys. My muse is definitely a mischievous character.
I hope you feel better soon. You have to protect that brain. It could be worth millions soon. :)
Hi. I have been having a terrible time lately attempting to keep up with my blog friends. Apparently I missed hearing about your injury. I hope things clear up for you soon. My son had two shots to the head and it is very scary. Good luck to you and get well soon.

Hey, everyone! Thanks for the comments! It was a fun exercise and Lyn/Violeta is awesome!
@Anita and TS ~ the idea of the muse is so cool. Seems like a calling this week, eh?
@Tim ~ Avatar freakin' rocks. I'd totally be Toph. Love her!
@James ~Thanks! I'm starting to feel more like myself today, so thank goodness! Good to see ya around again!
Avatar! I knew there was one more reason why I love you (so far on the list: you rock, you're artistic, your brain's a writing machine, you're way cooler than me, etc. etc.) ;)
Glad to see you're doing better with that concussion. I'm off to read the link now... :)
Your muse thing was totally fun! Loved it! But remember: There is no spoon. :-)
LOL, I should have known your muse would be quirky.
Just checked out the muse post and added you. Woot woot!

Hey, guys!
@Cherie~ YAY! Another Avatar geek! Whoo hoo! Which character would you be? (I see Katara?)
@Kendall~ IKR? What's up with that? Dang musey matrix.
@Jacquelyn~ It's a true story, too. Did a meditation and that's what my goofy muse did. Pfft.
@Gina~ Yay! Wait... where am I added? (Concussion victim here) Thanks for checking out the site! :D
Aww, I didn't see this before! *hugs* Your entry was hilarious. Thank God for funny bunnies like you. I loved to add those magic sprinkles in the collaboration. And I'm super glad it inspired you because I was inspired like crazy. Now that it's over, I'm just desperate for some more magic dust. *looks around*
@Lyn ~ When you find that magic dust, you'll let me know, right? :D
The muse, the muse! Only scanned through the entries, so far - but what a fun endeavor. Radiolab had a thing a while back about the muse as a sentient being of sorts - and it was pretty cool (http://www.radiolab.org/2011/mar/08/me-myself-and-muse/).
I appreciated this line in this post: "It was a great experience and just the exercise I needed to get my writing brain thinking again." -- because that is what we all need - some other sort of writing to keep us going when other things crumble. I write on a couple of different blogs and besides just enjoying the topics and the writing, it gives my brain a jumpstart when the WIP is stalled out.
