Never thought I'd say it.

But I'm terrified.

100%, heart-pumping, turn-and-run-the-other-way... terrified.

I'm finishing up the last scene I have to write from scratch and technically, I'm only about 2,000 words away from completion. I have a few smoothing over things to do with the chapters that follow, but I've been working on them, too.

2,000 words.

That's all that stands between me and my first draft.

I've had the scene in my head for months, but I've avoided it like the plague. I'd like to say it was all for the sake of keeping my alpha and betas in the dark. But really, I think I've been scared all along. Scared to finish that last little bit.

Am I the only bizarre one who feels this way?

It's like knowing you're coming up on your due date and at a certain point, that kid inside you will be coming out. There's not a damn thing you can do to stop that process. It's gonna happen.

Impending DOOM!

The good news is, now that I know, I can embrace the fear. Use it to my advantage in this final scene and sprint to the finish line.

Like my hero Jillian Michaels always says:
"You don't get to the finish line and quit. That's when you finish strong."

So that's exactly what I intend on doing. Swallowing down this fear, finishing up the 1st draft and meeting that goddamn deadline.

See you on the other side. ;)

Girl, I know it will be amazing. And I can't wait to read it. I'm still signed on, right? I'm keeping my schedule open!

Oh, lordy... I hope you're right, Kara! LOL! Yes, you are still on to read, if you wanted to give me your critical eye! ;)

You will be totally awesome! Prepare for depression though. Your birthing analogy is a good one. You build up to the big ending, and sometimes there's a crash that follows. Just warning you. Maybe it won't bother you. :-)

Can't wait to read. Yay!

Woohoo! Good luck girl. That scared feeling is actually the start of an adrenaline rush so feed off of it and race across that finish line!

Jillian sounds like a pretty smart cookie. :)

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! @Kendall - thanks for the heads up! I think I'll have to go straight into book 2 to avoid that! HA!

DO IT! DO IT NOW! (Best Schwarzeneggar impression).

Seriously -- FINISH IT! The only way to make it across the chasm is to take a running leap. =D

YAY! I have my own deadline for the end of summer and I know I will be equally scared whenever I come upon the end... you live in this world you are creating and it is hard to let go! But in the end... YAY and good luck!

It's awesome, isn't it, Carissa? And, yes, you're doing it! One letter, one word, one sentence, one paragraph, one page at a time...you're doing it! You're almost there, keep jammin'!

This is the heart-stopping, vomit-inducing, chill-thrilling moment for you! Enjoy it. Savor it. It only comes once in the book's lifetime!

And of course, have fun doing it! :)

You know I've run into that similar situation with my book. You're a different kind of writer so you won't fail. And whatever crisis you are beholding you'll power on through because it's you. You are one of the most amazing people I've ever met!

Hi Everyone!

Things have been so busy that I've barely had any time to go anywhere but Pendomus! Thanks for all of your kind words and encouragement! You guys all rock! Seriously! You keep my spirits up when they're sometimes lagging.

UPDATE: I finished the scene yesterday! Now I'm on the final leg of smoothing things out! I will be done by the weekend! Whoo-hoo!

I've been there myself so I know the feeling. Mines came down quick when I began editing. Where I'm still stuck now. However, I know you'll do great.

Please stop by my blog. I have a surprise for you.
