Pendomus' Undo Button

Undo the Redo
Bloody hell. I believe there is a *headdesk* in my future.

So, here's the latest...

I had a fun and productive lunch with Beta-reader-extraordinaire on Friday. However, it opened my eyes to a dilemma with the latest version of Pendomus.

Turns out, the ending of the first (uber first) worked better.

*headdesk*

Why... oh, why....?

I think I had a momentary lapse of reason. Maybe it was one too many bumps on the noggin'. I don't know.

Now I gotta go and change it back. *gah*

Back in happy land... as far as edits go... things are AWESOME!

I've gone through the first ten chapters. (Hey, man, I'm 2 ahead of the game for my goddamn deadline!)
That's right, I've had my super editor hat on.

In addition to Beta-reader-extraordinare's advice, I've been following the words and experience of my awesome CRITS gals, Kara, Gina and Kendall. There are scenes that are getting chopped and put in the "deleted scenes" abyss. It's all good. The flow works better and I totally dig it. It's better write too much than not enough, right? ;)

Anyway... that's my update.

Making progress. Made a mess. Scrambling for the undo button.

I'll get there.

I hope.

Ah the joys if editing. The best part of editing is watching your creation mature and grow. It's a wonderful feeling, and worth every *headdesk moment. If you aren't having any of those, then something is wrong.

You WILL get there! You're really so close, you're just too deep in the weeds to be able to tell (which I agree with TL is where you are supposed to be now)!

Super goosebumps again about your new ending, it's going to be so awesome! Keep at it! :)

Yes. I'm getting so many ideas and understanding which perspectives I want to show and which I don't. In the beginning, I was trying to understand everyone. Which created some overlaps. It's annoying not only to my betas, but to me as well. Now that I have an overall idea of the arc and how I want it to be perceived, it will be easier to let them go...

On the upside, the editing is going faster than I thought it would. (At least until the undo/rewrite at the end, I'd imagine! HA)

Glad to hear the editing is going well and you're ahead of your deadline. And I think you're right, it's must easier to delete extra scenes than try to add in. Good luck!

argh! Don't you hate that? But TGF beta readers, right? Go you on the edits! And good luck fixing that ending up. :) I still love that "book cover"!

Good going. :) I just love the Undo cover, lol. Seriously, you may have to do the ending again, but being in super-editing mode will make it easier. Good luck! :)

Oh man, knee deep in revision hell myself, I SO get this. It really feels like there's more to do than when I was writing the novel in the first place, 2,000 words into it and with 80,000 or so more to go. But hang in there, we'll both make it!

And I'm with Anita. That is a GORGEOUS cover.

Thank guys!

I am so grateful for my beta and critique readers. Their information and perspective has been invaluable.

@Kalen- I am sooo there with you. It's been much harder doing the editing/rewrite than getting the initial story down. But, eh... I'll get there. Come hell or high water! HA!!

(Thanks for the cover love, too, guys! I really enjoyed making it!-- Notice the UNDO for this one? HA!!)

I still haven't gotten a copy of your book yet. It's always..."I'll send it to you after I edit such and such chapter." =P XD

Carissa Andrews said...

Sam... you WILL get to read it. I promise. I just wanna make sure the damn thing makes sense! HA!!

I know you have a lot of readers, but you're always welcome to send your manuscript to me for some feedback. I know how difficult it can be to change perspectives and point of view. My "Deleted Scenes" folder is full of stuff that didn't make the cut.

I hope this round of edits go nice and smooth. :)

Hey, Tania! I've got a good rhythm going on here with the editing... I'd love for your eye on this sucker, too. Would you be open to take a gander later in August? Once I have this thing straightened back out? Ideally I want to get the edits done faster than I anticipated for my goddamn deadlines. If I really want, I can get at least a chapter done a day. (Then on the days I write, I could get 2-4 done.)

Can I keep you posted?

Keep it up, you're doing great!

And yes, it happens to all of us. At least it should. There's a reason most writer's are alcoholics. This is merely one of them. LOL

Carissa Andrews said...

LOL! The other reason is all the other voices in our heads! HAHAHA!

Speaking of which... where'd I put that Bacardi Sangria?

You're doing what you should do - looking at the story critically and making changes as you need to. I think you're right on target, even though it can be frustrating to go back and forth. We've all been there and done that. Keep plugging along, and it will come together. :-) Good luck!

Thanks, Kendall!

I think it's definitely important. You and the CRITS gals have been a wealth of information and I appreciate it so much. Thank you!
