Is it drafty in here, or is it just me?

Looks a little drafty.
Happy Miscreant Monday, everyone!

Well, my goddamn deadline is all but upon me and I'm happy to say that this time, I freakin' nailed it! I finished running through the last chapter yesterday (three whole days early)!

But...

(I hate that I have but face after something as great as that...but I do.)

It's drafty in here. Perhaps not this drafty----------------------->
But drafty enough.

There's a few spots that are plaguing my brain and I can't seem to let them rest. Particularly, Chapter 2 and one of the final scenes. Overall, it's nothing terrible. Yet... they plague me-- following me around like a massive hangover. I gotta make them right. They have to be as cool on paper as I see in my head.

I know I can make them better.

I realize this is the first draft, so it's supposed to be drafty, but I fancy myself Wonder Woman, alright?
(Where's my damn golden lasso and invisible plane when I want them?)

While I could say that I have 3 more goddamn days to make it perfect, I'm gonna call it. The first draft is done and I'm entering phase 2-----> über editing (otherwise known to me as perfecting).

Maybe now I can regain a semblance of my previous [in]sanity and allow myself to chill a bit. Who knows? Maybe something wicked will plop into my brain and make it even awesomer yet! (yes, that's a word!)

Thanks for all of your support, everyone! You guys simply rock!

For those of you interested, my plan right now is to be querying by September or October at the latest. The inception for this book came to me on October 10 last year, so that's the ultimate deadline, if all else fails!

Wish me luck on this new phase... it's a little daunting! ;)

Congratulations and good luck with the editing. That's always my favorite part for some reason. I say take your 3 days and relax. The best ideas always come when you're not staring at the manuscript.

Good luck!

I hate it when you know something is wrong but you don't know what and you have no idea how to fix it. That's when I step away (getting in the shower usually does the trick for me).

Goodluck, hun! Think Wonder Woman thoughts. :) You can do it!

Congrats on finishing, Carissa! You are awesome. I think the revision stage is a lot of fun. And once you start sending your work to crit partners, you start seeing all kinds of stuff you hadn't even thought about before. I love getting feedback from people because it makes the writing that much better. :-)

Thanks, everyone!

It's been a strange weekend. The excitement of being done/mixed with the feeling that something's missing was at times, irritating! LOL! (Amelia - I'm right there with you, except I tend to be more of a bath person! HA!)

@Kendall- The crit group should kick some serious butt. It'll be exciting to bounce ideas around and see how I can make this even better! :)

Grats on getting past this stage. Rest, then drop into the next stage. I finished my last one, and then fell into a freaking black hole of depression. And I know better. Work is the cure.

Do good work and make that baby shine by your deadline. I do did not mean for that to rhyme....

Congrats!

And yes, it's drafty.

I've been through 7 drafts of my book. SEV-EN! SIEBEN! NUEVE!

We all want it to be perfect the first time through. Trust me, though, now, in your editing and drafting and driving yourself insane over trying to make your book perfect...this is when you'll really prove yourself as a writer.

Good luck -- and GREAT JOB getting that draft done.

I'm laughing at the previous comment about having seven drafts... I think I'm on draft #23, or something. No kidding. I'm a perfectionist.

Congrats on making it through the first phase. How long are you going to let the manuscript simmer before you get back to it?

I do wish you luck, Carissa! And LOL on the picture. Drafty and BUT FACE take on a whole new meaning after seeing that. :) You crack me up! (get it?? Heehee)

Hey, Guys!

Thanks again for all the sweet and awesome comments! I seriously hope this sucker doesn't lead me to a gazillion versions... I'm very pleased with where it's brought me so far. I just have edits and clean ups to do. I guess one could technically say this is version 2, thought. I wrote the majority of the book back in November and December and then went back in to smooth it all out once I saw where it was going. ;)

@Anita ~ LOL! Finally! Someone got my but face comment! (or at the very least, mentioned it! HA!) Soo happy! My day's complete. :D

Woohoo! Congratulations! I knew you could do it! Isn't it an awesome feeling having in completed? Isn't it? I'm sure you have that oh-so-restless feeling of excitement to get to the edits...what an awesome accomplishment!

Again, Carissa...congratz! Have fun for the next few days before starting on the edits, cuz it's going to be an adventure!
